Politico plans baby boom
November 17, 2006
QUEBEC -- ADQ Leader Mario Dumont wants to encourage a baby boom in Quebec by paying women $5,000 once they give birth to three or more children.
"We want a family-centred approach, a child-centred approach," he told The Canadian Press.
A similar program was put in place by former Liberal premier Robert Bourassa.
Other ADQ policy proposals would include providing additional financial support to parents who adopt young Quebecers instead of seeking international adoptions.
