Get Out The Vaseline-This Is Just The Beginning

When you have a fiscal problem it is inevitable that you need to find new sources of revenue which for the average person means finding a better or a part time job, reducing expenses, improving your performance, etc. but neither of these taxes comes close to meeting these strategies. What am I getting for my extra $60 vehicle registration fee? This city and this council is notorious for being an anti-car city.

It is time for the 19 councilors who voted against the new taxes to get together and form a coalition to hold the other 25 Miller lackeys at bay.

Toronto councillors have passed new taxes to help deal with the city's massive revenue shortfall, after an intense day of debate.

The vote passed 26-19.

The taxes were the subject of heated discussions throughout the summer, but city councillors were expected to pass the tax package that includes a new land transfer tax for homeowners and a new vehicle registration fee.

The municipal land transfer tax doubles the existing provincial land transfer tax on new homes. Drivers will have an added $60 tacked on to their annual renewal bill of $74.

Is this the same plan that Comrade Miller ran two elections on....getting $$$ from the feds and province. He gave the impression that he had the clout and connections to do so but so far he has failed miserably.
