Please tell me that Dean Blundell is paying you to write in your magazine. If you are paying him, then I have to ask, why? I read his last column and his take on alcoholism is ridiculous (Things, July 5). The fact of the matter is that thousands of lives are ruined by alcohol abuse, alcoholics have been known to beat their partners and/or children, lose their jobs, lose their friends and lose their homes. Finally, if unchecked, they will more than likely suffer from liver failure from drinking Chinese cooking wine, Listerine and Pledge. But hey, it's not cancer or AIDS, so lucky alcoholics, right? I guess there's a reason I don't listen to the morning show on 102.1 anymore. TODD MCCLEAVE
