Comrade Miller is going to have to get his head out of his ass and start making those hard decisions, no matter how unpopular they might be, that he should have been making when he was first elected Mayor. If he had paid attention to the problems we might have a bridge to the island, and he might have a few less supporters among waterfront condo owners and island squatters, but we might not be also not be in as much crap as we are......

The emperor has no clothes.
That may be the stark conclusion following yesterday's stunning rejection of Mayor David Miller's tax proposal to grab $356 million from motorists and people in the housing market.
City council did more than just defer the proposal to Oct. 22.
What the councillors did was signal to King David he has much work to do before he can assume the unfettered leadership of council.
On this crucial issue – finding new revenue sources for a city that is dangerously short of cash – Miller acted more like a monarch than a mayor. Council cut him down a few pegs.
That might be good and well in the political corridors of city hall.
But the signal it sends to the outside world is of a government that is not in touch with its constituents and not in touch with itself.
