The Reality Guy Versus ARCHITECTURE GUY

October 10, 2007

Hey, architecture boy, read this

By LORRIE GOLDSTEIN

Normally I don't pay much attention to what the Toronto Star's architecture critic writes about city politics because, well ... hey, he's the architecture guy.

But lately, architecture guy's stuff has been getting so wacky, it demands a reply.

Basically, architecture guy thinks Toronto voters are stupid.

Or, as he put it in an August rant: "Democracy boasts many virtues, but it also has serious weaknesses, including the fact that it allows citizens to vote thoughtlessly and without regard to reality."

Perhaps this was an attempt at Swiftian satire by architecture guy, but Swift (or swift) he is not.

In the same column, architecture guy blasts Torontonians for voting for, among others "the Stephen Harpers and the rest." However, he doesn't mention where in Toronto voters have elected one of Harper's MPs. (Hint, they haven't.)

He also says Torontonians are stupid because they vote for, among others, "the David Millers because they promise they won't raise taxes." They mayor's never made such a promise.

So much for a slavish devotion to accuracy.

I lean to the right but I still have a heart and if I have a mission it is to respond to attacks on people not available to protect themselves and to point out the hypocrisy of the left at every opportunity.MY MAJOR GOAL IS HIGHLIGHT THE HYPOCRISY AND STUPIDITY OF THE LEFTISTS ON TORONTO CITY COUNCIL. Last word: In the final analysis this blog is a relief valve for my rants/raves.
