Starve the parasites...BUY FOREIGN!
Maybe they should change their name to United Auto Non-Workers...
That issue is shifting the company's health care burden of more than $50-billion (U.S.) for those 73,000 employees and another 339,000 retirees and their spouses from GM to a trust fund that would be administered by the union.
GM has sought to move those costs off its books, which would make a major contribution to reducing its average hourly labour costs of $73...(emphasis added)
GM pays the health care costs of more than 4 1/2 times the number of people who actually contribute to their productivity. They also pay twice what I make, to some dude who will man a machine on an assembly line all day and take 3 months short term disability every year for "lower back problems". I know...I once had family who did just that.
What they just don't get...what they refuse to understand is this...they can bitch all they like about the company shifting some of their own costs back onto their shoulders but in the end, if the company finally folds up under the burden, who is going to pay the bills then?
GM is a company which hasn't made a good car in at least a decade. At this point, the UAW is nothing more than a collective thug, mugging a dying man.
