Of electing a strong mayor for the city of Toronto so I encourage you not to make the same mistake and give a loser, McGinty, a second chance like you did with Miller......
Just because John Tory was one of the architects of the Kim Campbell campaign that reduced the federal Tory caucus to two seats, doesn't mean John Tory is not a guy who knows how to win elections. And let's remember he didn't get totally humiliated in the Toronto mayor's race against David Miller. And so perhaps the much more evolved John Tory can pull off a come-from-behind victory against Dalton McGuinty in the Ontario premier's contest. Here, apparently, is the John Tory five-step plan on distancing himself from the religious schools issue.
1) I, John Tory, believe in my position no matter what my opponent says. 2) I believe my opponent is lying about my position. 3) I believe I am in trouble because the people trust the lying Premier more than they trust me on this issue. 4) I believe that it's time to allow a free vote so that the media can interview my candidates so that they can tell them that they too trust the lying Premier more than they trust me. 5) I believe that if I lose this election the party is better off with every member of the caucus having had the opportunity to publicly put a boot in my principled eye. Leadership Matters. This may not be the kind of leadership that Dalton McGuinty believes in or the kind that many of my candidates believe in. But when you take the position that principle is what matters most, you have to be prepared to make the hard choices. Political suicide has been a very hard choice for me. Hard for me. Hard for my family. My feeling is the Lying Premier has chosen a different course.
On October 10th, please vote Red Tory. You'll never get another chance to do so.
