Photos Released Of Suspects In Cowardly Attack, Robbery of 86-Year-Old Woman

Wednesday April 30, 2008

It was a most cowardly attack, and now Toronto Police have released photos of the men they believe may have been responsible.

It all began on the afternoon of March 31, 2008, when an 86-year-old woman was reportedly returning home with her bundle buggy after shopping at a plaza near Bayview Avenue and Ruddington.

Things were peaceful enough, until a suspect allegedly approached from behind, shoving the elderly woman to the ground, causing her to topple over her cart and slam head first into the unforgiving sidewalk concrete.

She gathered herself just in time to watch the suspect take off with her purse and was left tending to head, chest, wrist and knee injuries. But the horror was hardly over.

A short time later, two suspects were reportedly nabbed on surveillance cameras attempting to use the victim's credit card at a nearby store.

From there the hunt was on, though no arrests have been made.

If you've got any information that can help police, contact the 33 Division Major Crime Unit at 416-808-3306 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIP (8477).
