City Hall: The power of headlines

Let’s face it: all the numbers being thrown around these days regarding funding promises, surpluses, and fiscal gaps aren’t going to stick in most peoples’ heads. Dalton McGuinty is probably banking on it. Read the headlines in today’s daily papers and it may appear that the Liberal leader is finally giving cities what they want.
And a reader speaks out.......
Sadly the taxpayer is the pawn in this “dog eat dog” political fight between the provincial liberals and toronto ndp.It always seems odd that budget figures before and during elections are so different from actual figures released after an election. No wonder the voters are confused and the ndp are happy considering most people no longer care and don’t vote.Definitely a plus for the ndp who depend on the apathy shown by the public towards voting. But Joe Pantalones remarks clearly show just how petulant the ndp of toronto really are.No matter what the provincial government does Joe and Miller will continue to punish the public by continuing the cuts to services, but Joe will continue to spend on his own pet projects at exibition place and continue the push for the front street extension.
Shame on Rosario for pretending to abandon his ndp brethren in the city, this cheap ploy to get re-elected seems to be the lowest any politician can go.In fact where is rosario when it comes to fixing the budget problem with the city? Seems during the last municipal election there was no problem. It will be intersting to see if the residents of toronto see through this and come out in droves to teach the ndp a lesson for their lies, and petulance.
