Know They Enemy

Lorrie Goldstein needs to be given credit for making us stop and think. The federal conservatives seem to be in the doldrums and we are inundated with stories about Harper and the conservatives and most of them do little to kickstart us into going to the polls and getting a majority so we can get this country back on track. Whether we will admit it or not there has to be a side to Dion the majority of don't see and this can be dangerous. Just think of of some of the other people who ended up leading their countries whose public persona was far worse than Dions.

Conservatives best wake up

Two books suggest why Stephane Dion could be a serious threat in the next election

By LORRIE GOLDSTEIN

The more I learn about Stephane Dion, the more I think it would be dumb of the Conservatives to underestimate him.

I know, according to the punditocracy, the federal Liberal leader is a dud-man-walking.

But they also told us Stephen Harper was a dud and Paul Martin was dynamite.

country back on track? Hasn't Harper had getting close to 2 years to do this?

The minority of Canadians, voted for Harper, that is, barely a third. Giving Harper a majority and a the ability to do what he pleases unrestrained is not only dangerous, but absolutely stupid.

Keep him in a minority, and make him deal with the wishes of the rest of Canadians. If he can't make that work, let's elect someone who can. Maybe there is a better leader within the conservatives.

I don't trust Harper's clear thirst for absolute power. And I doubt the majority of Canadians ever will for good reason.

totally agree with you; good having the Conservatives as a Minority Government, but they need to act as if they are the Majority government by delivering firmly and confidently;
all other parties are opposition, but opposition need to be tackled according to Sun Tzu tactics

As a Conservative I agree that Harper has to take the opposition to the wall on a major item that would precipitate a non-confidence motion and take us to the polls. I am not sure what that issue would be and I don't think it would benefit us to do it right now. Possibly after the Ontario election would be the time. The opposition, imho, are in disarray and wouldn't do that well at the polls.
